I went for a trip over to the guild again yesterday, and was lucky enough to come home with this! My aunt sourced, repaired and oiled it, and although it has a tension knob missing, it still works beautifully. Actually the absence of the knob has helped me to understand the mechanics of it a little better, and we've got a very clever temporary replacement of a length of homespun and rubber band! I also got to get a one-on-one lesson, and then a group lesson and chat with a range of other spinners from beginners, not much more experienced than I, to those who've had 30+ years with the wheel. My first attempt was pretty good Isabel tells me, although it looks like crap to me! Anyway, I was so excited by my first handspun wool that I had to knit it and here it is!
