Sock (or two) a Month!

The first I heard of "Sock A Month" was through Woolaholics, and I must admit to feeling just a tad nervous about signing up! I've been particularly reticent to join in any type of KAL or swap lately, due to the fact that knitting to a deadline isn't always fun, and let's be honest, it can also be very stressful! I pretty much managed to avoid all knitting-related stress over Christmas, due to starting VERY early, so I figured that I needed a challenge and dived in! Sock a Month (SAM) is simply a relaxed knit-a-long where the goal is to finish at least one sock every month - it doesn't even have to be started and finished in the same month, as long as one pair of finished socks is presented at the KAL blog once a month. There are prizes, but really it was the challenge that sucked me in at the end!My January Sock was knit from Wendy's Generic Toe-up Socks pattern. I really liked using the wrap method, as opposed to the yarn-over method of short rows. I really also liked the short-row toe method. I think I still prefer cuff-down socks, but I must admit that I do like the freedom that toe-up socks provide!

My SAM5 February socks will be purple . Tania and I have been trawling patterns for a 2-person "Purple Socks" knit-a-long. We both indulged in some Cherry Tree Hill Supersock yarn a while back and coincidently ended up choosing the same colours. The purple sock yarn is beautiful and vibrant, and has so many possibilities, that deciding on a pattern has been tricky!
Go with the Flow, Hedera or Monkey have all been put forward as contenders, but a final decision has yet to be reached. Any suggestions on what pattern would flatter beautiful bright purple yarn would be appreciated! Anyone with some solid purple yarn who would like to join us in our KAL, please do!

Those stripey socks are fabulous.
Thanks so much for waiting for me for the purple sock yarn, I know you are so quick you could have cast on and finished a pair by now!

Purple looks fabulous & monkey socks will be a good choice. I am knitting them now but toe-up with no purls - it's a really nice pattern.
