Stax o' sox

Stacks may be a 'slight' exaggeration. There is one finished pair, and a newly began pair, but I must admit to being just slightly obsessed with them above all other knitted objects at the moment. My prediction is that this will only be a momentary obsession, but will be a long lasting passion with many more socks to be seen in my future.

So the Jaywalkers are finished. Knit over the course of about 2 weeks on 2.75mm in Lorna's Laces "Iris" colourway. I initially started them on 2.25mm but they were too tight on me, so I jumped up 2 needle sizes, which made them pretty big, too big for me in fact. Once I realised this, I worked on this labour of love with my darling husband in mind (who has size 12 feet).
After the mammoth effort on the HUGE jaywalkers, I figured something for me would be a much quicker knit. I also wanted to do a toe-up sock... it's fascinating all the different ways of constructing the same object, and I currently want to try them all! So I stumbled across the Vinnland pattern at the Anti-Craft yesterday before I left on an overnighter at the in-laws. Lots of knitting time in the car meant I got to get a good start on them. I'm knitting them in the Monster Knits "Meadow" colourway that I scored off ozebaby a couple of weeks ago. They don't look like much off a foot, but stretch out the pattern and they look awesome! I'm very happy with these so far!I also picked up this book at the mini-wool expo held in Coburg a little while back. It's full of gorgeous patterns, and I just can't decide what I want to do first! I bought some Cleckheaton Coccoon in baby pink a couple of days ago, and I'm keen to attempt the waving lace ones pictured on the front .

Oh I love the vinland!! How does DH's like his jaywalkers?

I'm slowly drawing together the materials to attempt a pair of socks.

I want to find out just what it is that draws knitters into the secret world of socks so they never come back

Sock making has become a bit of an obsession for me too - despite the events of my first attempt!
I never even thought of using knitting elastic - what a good idea, but as you say, it was too late, I'd already ripped out the socks!
I've finished that first pair now - except for grafting the toe. I tried but it didn't work - I need to be alone and concentrating to get it right, not talking to friends I hadn't seen for years!!
Thanks for visiting my blog - I'll be back to visit yours again.

I love the toe on the green socks! I have been eyeing off some of that monster knits sock yarn but I would never get the socks knitted up as fast as you, so am leaving it to someone else until I can work out a way of getting more knitting done! Your needle roll is fantastic. I must get to making one of those for myself one day - I have just discoverred dpns don't have sizes written on them!!!

Lovely socks & love them all. I have also completed a pair of Jaywalkers using Lorna Laces & had some pooling. The Fav Socks book is great & I am knitting the Waving Lace now. Thanks for the link to Vinnland - it's going on the to-do list.
